Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident near Lagos on Monday, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital arrives after the sports world offered its support for the fighter in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
