Eulogies Flow for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the duo.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt able to express about his deep grief.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can at last articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, saying that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the production, commenting that he could not remember "one day without laughter".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I recall you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate piece, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to prevent the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the LAPD.
A court order placed a restriction on the files to restrict the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" pertaining to the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a record listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Response and Criticism
Following the killings, public personalities expressed varying comments.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making divisive claims that were widely condemned by numerous individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his voice to the detractors recently. Conversing on his program, Rogan labeled the statements as "disappointing" and implied they showed a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by proposing that an associate could have acted when the decision to comment on the passing was made.
