All of this, evidently, should be allowed to get in the way of Eurovision’s much-touted ethos of unity.

The Contest Continues Against a Backdrop of Profound Human Cost

The contest marks seven decades next year – nearly twice the projected longevity of a person in Gaza at present. The broadcast will air, but it will find it impossible to reclaim the camp joy it was formerly known for. A contest that once promoted peace has now become a cynical way to sanitize military aggression.
