Hulu to Bring a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The newest Far Cry game that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for embracing chaos and insanity with equal enthusiasm, all while telling engaging, ideologically themed stories. Little surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two producers whose projects have embodied all of those qualities.
What to Expect
Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game property, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' style by introducing a fresh setting and group of personalities in every instalment.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the showrunner.
“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family continues to lift me up with their ongoing trust and assistance.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology show. Every instalment is a take of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” said Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can shift from one instalment to the next, while always exploring the nature of society through this multifaceted and chaotic perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and present our mutual unconventional, ambitious style to the screen.”
A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
