A man from Australia who vaulted over a barricade and grabbed celebrity Ariana Grande has been sent away and barred from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, 26, was given a sentence to nine days in prison for being a public nuisance and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," the country's border control informed local media.

The man shoved beyond security and rushed toward the celebrity, who was attending the Asian premier for the musical adaptation on November 13. Co-star Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.

The individual has a record of interrupting performances and celebrity events, including leaping onto the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in the past June.

The occurrence caused anger in Singapore, with numerous people accusing him of causing further distress to the star.

The pop star has discussed suffering from PTSD after a explosive incident at her performance in Manchester in several years ago killed 22 people and affected hundreds.

During Wen's trial, the court heard he had tried to gain access on the red carpet event twice, according to Singaporean media.

He then made a another effort to cross the barriers. Event security prevented him and restrained him.

Wen later posted video clips thanking Grande for allowing his presence and said he was "released."

Law enforcement took him into custody the subsequent day and brought charges against him with causing a disturbance, to which he confessed.

The Presiding Judge the magistrate was referenced by media reports as remarking that the man sought attention, commenting that he was incorrect to think he would not experience repercussions.

The singer has not addressed the incident.

The co-star discussed the incident to NBC, saying that she "only aimed to verify my colleague was safe."

"I think he didn't intend us danger, but you never know with these incidents, and I sought to ensure that she was alright. That was my initial reaction," she said.
